New Year, Fresh Changes

The Ford Maverick is entering its second model year of existence as popular as it was the day it was revealed, though that creates a bit of a problem - Ford can't build enough of the economical pickup to satisfy demand. As such, quite a few 2022 reservation/order holders are being pushed to 2023, and they - plus new shoppers - will find that a handful of changes have taken place.

Tremor Off-Road Package

The biggest change for the 2023 Ford Maverick is the introduction of the new Tremor Off-Road Package, which adds a host of upgrades to the pickup to make it more capable off the pavement, including a twin-clutch rear drive unit like the Bronco Sport Badlands, unique shocks and springs, all-terrain tires, and more.

Unique Looks

The Tremor also sports its own unique look thanks to a variety of orange badging and other details inside and out. The package retails for $2,995, while a Tremor Appearance Package is also available for an additional $1,495. Both of these options are late availability, however, which means they won't be available at the pickup's launch.

No-Cost EcoBoost

Aside from the Tremor, there are a few other notable changes taking place with the 2023 Maverick, including the fact that the 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 is now a no-cost option. Previously, buyers had to pony up extra if they wanted more power than the base hybrid, but that engine's popularity prompted Ford to make the EcoBoost a bit more enticing.

New Stuff

Like many new vehicles these days, the Maverick is also getting a Black Appearance Package for 2023, giving it a dark appearance for customers that prefer that over things like chrome trim. The base XL model also gets cruise control as standard equipment for 2023, which is bound to be big news for some.

Package Trimming

As for the Maverick XLT's Luxury Package, it has actually lost a couple of features for the 2023 model year, including tie-down rails for the bed, remote start, and the drop-in bedliner, while a vinyl-wrapped steering wheel replaces the leather unit used in 2022. All of those features are optional extras individually, however.

Pricing

Finally, there's the matter of pricing, and that has unfortunately increased for the 2023 model year. The XL is now $1,200 more with a starting price of $22,195, the XLT has risen $1,095 to $24,455, and the Lariat has gone up $1,095 to $27,955. It's also worth noting that 2023 Maverick order banks were only open for a few days, which has been attributed to an already large backlog of orders for the compact pickup.
