odometer display lights intermittantly

i have an 02 explorer xlt and the odometer will show sometimes and sometimes you can hardly see it. does this have a replaceable bulb or is this a defective led module? i would like to repair it but do not want to replace the cluster. any advice will be appreciated. thanks!

Is the odometer on those trucks digital? If so, pull the cluster and look where the odometer attaches to the board and see if there is a cold solder joint. This has been a problem on the Expeditions and F-150s and it is caused by a cold solder joint.

this is the fix for the F150. i did it 3 years ago and worked well. my 02 EXP has not had that problme, i thought it was only the F series.

Well my seems to be working fine for now.I started to remove the cluster, everything was going fine but there was one tiny wire i couldn't figure how to remove so i took the screws off the back and pop the electrical board out, with the board in hand the bulbs facing away from me i found three cold solders on the left hand side i put a little bit of solder on it.It is bright now.
