loping, rough idle

loping, rough idle
Hey guys, I have a 97 1 ton PS with an auto transmission. Lately the engine has started to lope as it idles down from acceleration or revving the motor. The acceleration pretty smooth, but the overall idle is a little rougher. I have a superchip installed and has been on the truck for a almost 2 years. I ran the diagnostic and came up with the 0344 cam sensor malfunction. I just replaced the sensor but the problem persists. The thing that confuses me is that it idles and runs perfect for the first 15 minutes after starting, but then starts going down hill. There is a fuel leak in the valley, so im about to replace the fuel pump and the 3 hoses down there, and any other O-rings that are bad. The fuel pump is leaking fairly badly, there is a steady stream of fuel flow at idle speed. Could this fuel pressure decrease be the cause of this lope and rough idle?
Also, the has been no oil consumption at all, and the smoke is greyish colored when under hard acceleration.
Thanks so much for any help you may be able to offer!!!

I'm no pro but I know these truck are sensitive to oild pressure and I could only imagine to the fuel as well. I would definitely get the fuel leak fixed. That stuf ain't cheap. Mine idle a little rough as well but I think mine is a bad vc gasket connector or wire. It just needs to get a bit warmer to check it out, 28 w/o wind chill right now. I know some of you are colder than that. it runs right now. Give me a break.

is it hard to start all the time, or only when the engine is warm? if you have the ability I would plug it in and observe the datastream for injection control pressure. you may have a high pressure oil leak. possibly your IPR o-rings. you mentioned greyish smoke only under hard acceleration, so ones to assume that your injector o-rings are o.k. ICP should be approx 600 lbs when cold and no lower than 450 lbs when warm @ idle. good luck.

check that thread out should give you some insight. Check that Transmission selector sensor (I think thats what its called) on the side of the trans. try starting the truck in neutral a few times and see if it still lopes
