I use white PS in the winter, gray bottle in the summer. No issues in the last 3 diesels.

The only problem I have concerning PS products is they are not demulsifiers. They try to make the water a part of the diesel fuel by using "high molecular weight" alcohol and let it be burnt in the engine to dispose of the water. If you can remove the water from the fuel and turn it into "bigger droplets", then filters have a better chance of catching the water.

I personally do not run PS products for this reason and only use product like Stanadyne Blue or Red and Ford PM22.

Is your truck and one can run what they want. Just providing this for reference.

Here is a copy of the email I received from PS about their product.

Dear Larry,

Thank you for taking the time to contact Power Service. Our products are neither an emulsifier or demulsifier. They make water soluble in diesel fuel, or in other words it dissolves water and makes it part of the diesel fuel. The only additive that contains any alcohol is Diesel 911, and it contains a very safe, high molecular weight alcohol that will not cause any engine harm. If you have any further questions please give me a call at 817-599-9486 and ask for Jessica.

Thank you and have a great day,

Jessica Crabtree

Why would you be concerned about using it in a 6.7?

The 6.7 Diesel supplement states the following.

When operating in cold weather, Motorcraft® cetane improvers or non-alcohol-based cetane improvers from a reputable manufacturer may be used as needed.

I suspect Ford would deny warrranty claim if alcohol was found in the fuel sample when you took truck to dealer for engine/fuel system problems. I think alcohol would reduce the lubricity of the ULSD fuel which is marginal now on lubricity.

Also, Ford will deny warranty on the fuel system repair if ANY rust is found internally on any of the fuel system components. That is one of the first things they check.

So why take a chance on running the water through the fuel system when you can use something to help the fuel filters isolate the water so it can be drained?

JMHO and 2 cents. To each their own cup of tea as to what they use and how they treat their fuel system.

MAD, you have gotten some suggestions here, but if you are really worried try searching for information regarding the contents of the bottle you wish to pour in your tank. I found the ingredients for a few (including PM 22/23) online. Also, related to "just strokins" post you can search for the difference between a demulsifier and a dispersant for diesel fuel. There are numerous forum posts, as well as one interesting white paper put together by Chevron. Eye opening some of the things the refiners have already put it! Happy reading!

Power service White bottle for many years and vehicles. BTW no alcohol of any kind in the white bottle either. A quick review of its sds confirms this if there are doubters.

The red bottle 911 does use alcohol and should be avoided.

Fuel additives are just about as bad as synthetic vs Dino oil debates.

All kinds of supposed independent review white papers pointing both ways.

My fairly new state of the art oil furnace was giving issues because I didn't have them come in and clean once a year because I burn wood from Sept to May..I only use 1/2 tank of oil a year ..(100 gals). So either the oil went bad etc. I reset the furnace a few times that week then put in 1 1/2 gal of PS white into about 30 gal of fuel left in the oil tank.. That was years ago and haven't had an issue since..still haven't had them clean it. I add PS to every oil fill in the home oil tank..
So I hope this adds fuel to the fire here..

I use PS grey bottle all year except below freezing. It doesn't get that cold here, but we don't have the really good blended diesel here that you guys do up north. Been using it this way through 3 diesels. I use it for lubricity as well. Took the injectors out of my 7.3L at 200k miles and the tech was impressed that they had very little wear.

This is a really interesting thread, but this what I wonder regarding the 7.3 since they are much simpler in design. If I had a 6.7 and I knew this about PS products, I would probably avoid it just due to the finicky fuel systems. Not that they are bad by any means...just different.

I've ran it every tank in the 6.4 I had and still do in the '13 6.7 in my sig. Lots on here use it with no ill effects.

Little swerve off of original topic but seems like some people here have done research that I just cannot get nailed down. Even asked Crystal and cannot get definitive answer. I use 22 above 30 degrees and 23 below. Then I read somewhere that 23 isn't a 22 winter replacement, but should be used in conjunction with 22.
I also notice 23 is cloudy when it's cold and 22 isn't. Sounds bass ackwards to me. Any thoughts?
