Stynadyne fuel adative?

Hi folks,
I just started using the Stynadynea performance formula for warm weather (40 degrees and up) in the last two tanks. It seems as if my fuel mileage has dropped and the regens are more frequent. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Diesel Kleen is what I use. I don't use it every tank though.

I use stenadyne, but that's all I have ever used. I will try a different product and let you know.

I run the Stanadyne in mine with no mileage drop off. I get about 17-17.5 on highway and about 15-16 around town.

The Stanadyne is a demulisifer. It causes the water to drop out of solution with the fuel so the water filter can separate it out. A few others have this proper but Diesel Kleen does not. Diesel Kleen tries to keep the water in solution and force it through the fuel system as I understand. Ford denies warranty on the fuel system if there is any rust on the injectors or HPOP parts.

Email from Diesel Kleen folks

Thank you for taking the time to contact Power Service. Our products are neither an emulsifier or demulsifier. They make water soluble in diesel fuel, or in other words it dissolves water and makes it part of the diesel fuel. The only additive that contains any alcohol is Diesel 911, and it contains a very safe, high molecular weight alcohol that will not cause any engine harm. If you have any further questions please give me a call at 817-599-9486 and ask for Jessica.

Thank you and have a great day,

Jessica Crabtree

I also use Stanadyne....
No adverse reactions. I want lubrication, water removal and cetane boost. I have confidence in Stanadyne.

I purchased my 2015 SD 6.7 last May. This past winter I tried to purchase the Ford anti- gel product but my dealer does not carry it. Instead they referred to other anti- gel product such as Power Service. In the warmer months I have used the Ford booster product but was considering using Power Service instead.

I have read other threads on Ford not honoring engine warranty so am concerned with what is the best product to use. I had the frame mounted fuel filter checked at 5k and changed at 14k specifically to check for water. According to the tech no water was present. In addition I have done checks myself and did not see water.

What is the best thing to do to avoid Ford warranty problems?

Absolutely correct on the demulsifying properties. You do NOT want to disperse or suspend water in a way that will allow it to run through the system. You want to filter it out. All diesel fuel has the ability to suspend water and ULSD has increased ability to do so. Unfortunately you cant see it or test for it but using a fuel additive that will help remove the water is always a wise decision. It is however, not a guarantee. The Motorcraft primary fuel filter does contain the Aquablock membrane to repel and remove water just like previous model year filters however the membrane is on the inside of the filter pleats. Just because you don't see it, know that it is there. But, it can only remove large droplets of water and some suspended water molecules can pass though. This is why a fuel additive that causes water molecules to cling together and form larger droplets is important. A product that does the opposite will allow water to pass through and I don't care what promise the product claims to do to the water to make it "safe." I would want the water removed. Period.

I have been using Stanadyne Lube formula for a while. I way going to try Opti Lube Summer blend because it shows in the lube test by Dieselsite that not only is it cheaper per tank but lubes better.
I hope this is a wise move for my 6.7..

I had been running Motorcraft Cetane boost, recently started Opti-Lube Summer+, fact is I'm on my first tank so no noticeable difference so far. Like Roy, I was after lubrication, water removal and Cetane boost. I've also been seeing alot of good reviews on Archoil.

Hey everyone,

The comments regarding emulsifying vs. demulsifying water are absolutely correct. With today's HPCR systems the last thing you want to do is run an additive that will disperse water. If water is dispersed it can end up exactly where you don't want it - in the injector tips. Since water doesn't burn, it can blow off the injector tips in these high pressure systems.

The best solution is to run additives that demulsify water so that the fuel/water separators can do their jobs. There are a couple of additives out there today that will demulsify water. We make additives under the Diesel Power!® Brand that not only demulsify water but will also help clean the fuel system, boost cetane, and provide anti-gel. You can see more on those products in the link below.

Stabil:

Do you sell your product to Ford which sells it as PM22A Cetane Boost?

The reason I ask is that I saw your product recently in a Tractor Supply and it was in the same identical bottle as the Ford PM22A, just with the Gold Eagle Label.

I have a case of Ford PM22a in my garage, perhaps I can find a manufacturer's SKU code on it.

Thanks

Yes we (Gold Eagle Co) do package that product for Ford in addition to some other additives we package for other OEMs. We work closely with these OEMs to help solve problems caused by today's fuels whether it's gasoline or diesel.

Please let us know if there are any other questions.

Happy Friday!

Ok I'm new to the diesel world! I've been reading some forums and trying to learn as much as possible!

Mine is a 2015 F350 6.7 Platinum

So reading this thread is this additive you all talk about something I need to run or just a choice you all make? I definitely don't want any issues with my truck and for that matter water screwing up something and me having to fight the dealer to get a problem taken care of.
