Question Rollerizing possibilties ???

Hello Folks ! Just wondered if some one could tell me if I need to do mods (besides computer re-write) to use a roller cam/lifters and valve-train on the efi 7.5 liter in my 94' F 350, I have used roller everything on an older style, carbed 460 with no issues, but that was a mid 70's block w/ dove heads. I've heard that these newer ones differ in some ways, so any insight would be greatly appreciated.......Thanks Folks !

The fact that a cam is roller or flat tappet has no impact on it being compatible with an EFI system, but the grind specs(lift, duration, LSA) still have to be SD EFI friendly, and in general that means an LSA of 114deg or greater and intake duration of 210deg at 0.050" lift or less.

that is a pricey swap. My guess would be $1000 - $1600. Them lifter sets would be the bulk of it and then the cam, Hell, maybe more that that.

Thumbs up Thanks for the replies folks !

I know the swap to a roller can be pricey, but I think it's worth while, does any one have any suggestions as to brand, or grind ? keeping in mind that I would like to make roughly 5-550 hp. Compression will be roughly 10-1, 30 over 96' block, msd ignition components, 62 mm throttle body w/ spacer, 60 lb injectors, ported and polished 96' efi heads, and headers of coarse, (as well as a mechanic friend that works wonders with computers) in a 4x4 that does a fair bit of pulling during the summer. Just looking for some ideas or suggestions, so any input would be greatly received. Thanks again folks !

I don't think 60 lb injectors will be needed with that set up. Stock are 19 lb you could use 460 injectors there 21 lb. 19 lb are yellow 21 lb I believe are blue. And the throttle body spacer ain't worth the metal it's made out of. I think your best bet here is gt 40 heads.

I can't help you with the roller cam question, but out of curiosity, what's your plan for the computer? It sounds like you're planning your setup with no worries about the ECU. What transmission are you running?

I thought any 460 from '93 and up already HAD roller lifters?

No roller 460's Windsors in the end.
But that is a pricey bit for 50 hp on a big rig.
If money is not the issue they have aftermarket EFI systems and some SCJ heads that can get you way more power. Why bother with the factory EFI
Why bother with EFI

60 lb injectors would be unnecessary. I don't have the chart, but I believe 36 lb injectors can make 500hp. Your goal and intended use are the main things you need to consider. F3TE heads even with a good port job are about maxed out at 500-550, and may have reliability issues if you open them up that much. SCJ heads are a good option, if money is not a concern as stated before.
