6.0L Cab swap on to a 7.3L truck
I have an opportunity to purchase two trucks, a 2001 7.3L which runs and drives but was rolled over and the cab is shot, interior is OK.
And the other is a 2004 6.0L which is "blown up" and it has over 200k miles on it.
So I am thinking about putting the 6.0L cab and bed on the 7.3L. They look the same but I'm sure there are some differences.
Thoughts? Thank you!

I just bought a 2004 crew cab cab. I was concerned about the pcm hole for the 7.3L...but the 6.0 cab has a plastic plug in the hole.
What the real issue is...the vin number goes with the cab. So you can swap, but the truck will have a "reconstructed vehicle" title.
I looks to be a big job. But $800 for a Texas cab, a fender and 4 doors was simply too good of a deal to pass up.

If that is the case you will have a vehicle that will no longer pass any emissions tests because of the old motor in the newer truck.

Truthfully though, that question is left answered by the state DMV Dept. The DMV, when presented with all the pertinent documents, could assign a new vin for the vehicle which would satisfy the model year emission constraints.

I'm in process of amassing parts, and I'll probably go for it next spring/summer.
