I have a 1999 F 350 Crew cab Long Box with the 7.3L in it, I am not the original owner of the truck but I have put on most of the miles. I know the truck is mechanically sound but living in upstate NY the cab is really starting to rust out pretty badly. I replaced the bed when I bought the truck and now I am looking to replace the cab on it. I am looking to get others opinions on it. I plan on going a newer cab and possibly upgrading from my current XLT. I am currently looking for a donor truck which I can swap the entire cab, saving me a ton of time, rather than having to take my interior out and putting it into the new cab. Does anyone know where I can find a cab like this, preferably from someplace that does not get salt? Thanks for any input
You'll have to scour the internet, but they are out there. You might want to also look at trucks with bad engines but good bodies, use the cab and part out the rest of the truck.
If it has a ton of miles, it may really not be worth doing. Only if you're doing it as a labor of love, and doing it yourself, would it make sense. For rust-free cabs, go south or west. Most yards will have stripped the cabs. Your frame would also need to be rock-solid to bother doing this. You might search the Craigslist ads from major cities and see what people are parting out.
It has 175K on it and I would be doing it myself as a winter project. The frame is solid, but I definitely understand what you mean when you say it might not be worth it. I keep asking myself that same question over and over. Thanks for the input
hello, i know this thread is a lil old but i have the same truck you got an was considering doing the same as well, so im just curious as to how you made out with it or did ya just say forget it thanks
My uncle is looking for a 73 -79Crew cab. He wants a long bed and 4wd. He's not real worried about the condition he wants to work on restoring it. He needs the cab and the transmission. He would have been interested in that yellow truck if it had a transmission. By chance is the yellow truck still there and how much is it?
