Turbo Boost?

My 93 diesel has a Banks turbocharger in it. I am running 100% bio diesel. When I am running 60MPH (2000RPM) my EGT is 350F and my boost is 3PSI. My question is, can I increase boost by wrapping the intake pipe with thermal blanket to increase heat to turbo? I will not by-pass the limiter that prevents max 10PSI boost. If I push down on the accelerater thereby dumping more fuel into chamber hence higher EGT, the boost increases. Anyone else have any suggestions other than that? Do they make blankets for that purpose and is it a great help?
Thanks for your input
Tom

to get more boost you meed to make the engine work harder.
if i am rolling down a flat road at 60 mph cruising with no load i will only see 1-2 lbs boost.
if i am standing on it, 3100rpm towing 20,000 lbs up a 17% grade, i will see 15+ lbs boost.

Yup; boost = fuel burnt.
350F sounds low, though, for 60MPH; I'd expect more like 550F. 2-3PSI sounds right, though.

Remember, you don't *want* boost unless you are able to use the air. More pressure = more wasted power in spinning that turbo unit and compressing air.
But if you can use that air in combustion, it's a net massive plus.
If you're not getting black smoke, you've got plenty of air for the fuel being burned.

Not worth the money. If you want more power tighten up the wastegate and turn up the fuel. Ideally you dont really want boost just cruising, like macrobb was saying. 350* does sound a smidge low, but i guess it depends on rpm. If i drive 50 mine stay under 400, but if im doing 70 theyre 500-600, granted i have 4.11s too.

Thanks all for the replies. I think the low temp is caused by running 100% bio-diesel. They tend to run cooler. Now that I know, I am happy. Thanks again.

the wrap and turbo blanket wont make it boost higher, but quicker.with no load, there's no need for boost as the others stated.once you put it under load, all that pressurized air really gives her a boot in the pants for hauling/towing.
if your looking to max what you've got, wrap everything you can,add a turbo blanket, intercooler and max the fuel.she'll boost even lower at no load cruse, but have more power and higher efficiency.

Tom,have you still yet to tune up your idi as was probably the issue you had back in '06:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...idi-7-3-a.html

if your running an old tiered worn out ip and injectors that have pop pressures of half what they should be and who knows what for timing still, you could be down a whopping 50 hp or more by now and not even know it.
get your ip reman, drop in a fresh set of G codes, set the timing to 7 - 8 BTDC then do the above wrapping, and you'll think you set a whole new engine under the hood.intercool her and max the fuel and you'll think your running a 94-97 psd with 4.10's.probably even a bit stronger since we have more base compression to start with.been a long while since iv run those trucks now.
start here:
IDI Tuneup
