FTE Fixed My Power Lose Problem
Been having a problem for about 18 months with power lose after a cold start. Push on the go pedal and motor would rev but then go back to idle and glow plug lite (GPL) would come on. Hit it again after the GPL went off and the same thing. Would repeat more the colder the morning. At times would set the crank and cam position sensor codes. After the motor warmed up, it would not do it again the rest of the day even if it was real cold outside.
I was reading on here about a similar problem and one reply suggested to clean/replace the IAT2 sensor, located next to the oil filter assembly screwed into the intake manifold. I had replaced all of the other sensors but overlooked that one. Pulled it out and the sensor tip was completely blocked with the black gooy stuff that clogs EGR valves. So I clean it with CRC MAF sensor cleaner and, I no longer have the cold start issue. Motor starts rightup and goes with no problem. Seems to run smoother and my MPG went up about 1.5 MPG. Guess with that sensor inop and the MAF temp sensor OK, the ECM thought there was a problem and adjusted. My X had 113,000 on it when I discovered this. Would recommend checking the IAT2 sensor if you have not. Easy to remove. It requires a socket (don't remember the size), extension and ratchet. You will probably need a small hook device to remove the connector, depending on release device location. It is a little difficult to install unless you have real small fingers but it is doable.
Thank you FTE!
