cold air intake

Has any here made their own cold air intake. I was thinking about rigging up some flex hose to my factory air cleaner.

Did the Dentside trucks have something we could adapt?

The late Dents had a hose from the air cleaner inlet to a plastic duct attached to the core support.... Basically between the inner fender and the radiator, down by the core support-to-frame mount.

IIRC, some mid-80s Mustangs came with dual inlet air cleaners. 'could make your own by adding an identical inlet to yours and closing/welding up the heat tube.

OR... new inlets using oval exhaust tubing or transition adapters like these to your housing:

Bagged all the parts from 80's trucks with a 5.0 liter some had the Aluminum covers. Added right intake air duct and cut to size. It has the rear side open cold vacuum door air that opens & closes on vacuum demand letting in the cool air. This I have Tee's into my dizzy vacuum line. So at low idle the door is open getting engine bay warner air.. Works great so it doesn't have to pull in air through the tubes while at idle.. orich

What about the flex hose & connections to the radiator support? Are those items from the same trucks?

I remember an old Ford part number that was a short plastic adaptor, duct to air cleaner body. Would duplicate the ones in Orich's pics. Instead of the long metal 9a626 ones in Bill's pictures. It is D7UZ9B676A. Discontinued by Ford but available.
