trying to figure out my gearing
i am upgrading the axles in my 78 f-150. converted the front Dana 44 to a 3/4 ton using chevy k20 knuckles/spindles/hubs. i just got a Dana 60 for the rear and i don't know if i need to change the ring and pinion.
so my question is, what were the options for gearing on my truck? it is a 78 F150 Ranger 4x4 styleside, 400 c-6, 9 inch rear. the door jamb stickers have been painted over
my vin number is F14SEBG1005
there is a small tab with numbers on it that is bolted onto the front axle. are these helpful?
if all else fails i'll have to take the cover off the front axle and see if i can count the teeth

The BOM is also stamped on one of the axle tubes...

Dana 60 may have a plate with 7 or 8 digit Dana ID number (examples: 603010-1 or 603010-11) bolted (2 bolts) to housing adjacent to inspection cover.
The Dana ID number may be stamped on the axle tube. If number has 7 or 8 digits, post what it is.
Ford ID tag located under one of the bolts that retains inspection cover to housing. Many of these tags missing today.

Glued to B pillar Safety Standards Certification Label that's been painted over does not have the axle code printed on it.
VIN does not contain trans or axle codes.
