Had the throttle body off. When I put the new TPS on the plates were closed. Had to turn the TPS slightly to line up the screw holes after getting in the position to slip onto the throttle shaft. Now I've got extra high idle speed. What's up with that??
Where did you get the TPS sensor?
Try slotting the mounting holes on the TPS so that it doesn't hold the throttle open.
This is a common mod on 5.0L Mustangs to get peak performance. But what we are trying to do here is not quite the same as your problem but it should fix yours.
The TPS isn't holding the throttle open at all. Had to rotate the TPS ccw enough to slip onto the throttle shaft tab so it would it would mate up to the bottom of the casting. Then I turned it back cw to line up the mounting screws. I think doing that got the sensor into it "range" telling the PCM the throttle is partially open.
