amsoil question

My dad gave me some 15w-40 amsoil for diesel and gasoline engines. Is it safe to add to my 07 expedition?

Why would you do this? The specification is 5W-20.

You can, but I stick with the 5w20 they recommend. The fuel economy was based off the 5w20. I wouldn't mix weights.

Yes, you can change weights, that won't hurt anything. Look in the back your manual, it should have a chart based on outside temps. I meant add 1040 to your truck as a top off when it has 520 in it.

Oh and it would be for an oil change and not for a top off.

don't bother. Free is free...but the 5w20 is better for your motor

I agree. Sell the oil and use 5w20 Motocraft semi-synth. There are oil specs -in your manual-that the engine requires and I don't think that meets them.
