Another Oil Question

This time I intend to use this instead of just asking opinions and getting told about it. I purchased 4 gal of the Mobile 1 synthetic that is specificaly for our diesel trucks. It meets and exceeds all the published requirements and I was wondering if anyone has used it yet. Good old walmart did not have the Rotella synthetic anymore but this appears to be the same basic thing. I know some here use Mobile 1 but is it the one that lists especially for the diesel truck. Thanks

Thanks Cheezit that is exactly what I feel. Now the only thing left is to stop and pick up the motorcraft filter and get it done.

Rotella is now calling the 5W40 synthetic T-6. Our Walmart has a full shelf of it. They also have a blend called T-5.

I have a 55 gal. drum of it, use it in 5 trucks and 3 compressors. Wal Mart was carrying it but since they were having a problem keeping only 3 gallons on the shelf I called a local distributor and bought a barrel. I even talked to the manager at Wal Mart about how most trucks that use that oil need at least 4 gallons to do an oil change.... he didn't care too much and still only puts out 3 gallons at a time.

We will find out soon, i just changed mine today and filled her up with Rotella T6 5w-40. From what i've read on the forum is that this is the same oil that was originally in the rotella 5w-40 synthetic bottle. However, Shell was able to do more testing...etc proving the oil meets stricter standards. So since they were able to prove it now, where as they couldn't before, they stuck a new lable on it. "T6". Sounds like a sales gimick to me. Don't just take my opionion on it, but read up and see what you find. I used to run Shell 15w-40 dino, but now the synthetic. There is no comparison on how much easier/better this truck starts now using the synthetic. Thats what sold me on it. Also, i had found on Shell's website that this is their #1 recommend oil for max protection in all temps. Anyway regarding your question, i plan on sending the oil off for oil analysis at 4k miles. That is really the only way to draw any conclusions on this oil being any better than the rest.
