Hello

I just bought a 2004 f350 crew cab 4X4 srw King Ranch , it has 103k miles.
The previous owner had been having problems with the truck starting ,had left him sit several times he had parked it several months ago and bought a new Chevy . I hauled it to my shop and charged the batteries overnight , next day it started right up , sounded great but the engine light was on it had 11 codes , but seemed to run fine . I cleared the codes and drove the truck for a few days no problems ..... I took it to get a case of beer and it started acting like it was running on 4 cyls. for about a mile then straightened up , got back no light . Drove it home that evening and next day cranks strong no start ,no smoke light on ....codes 0264,0284,0611,2285
come up . Had to be at work so I left it sit . Last evening started fine
Should I replace the FICM ?
Got what I thought was a great deal on it but after reading some posts here I have some doubts
Thanks for any input,
Chuck

Definately FICM. 30 minute job. I replaced mine in April with the 58V version from Swamp's Diesel. Like $450 after core return.

sounds like a FICM but the no start could be a HPO leak but with the way your describing it just needs a FICM. you might be able to repair that one but im not sure because ive never had one that bad! welcome to FTE there is great knowledge on here that will almost make you think that you could be a machanic but then again i leave the real hard stuff to them!

Thanks Guys ,
I'm looking foward to learning about this truck and I can see that knowledge of the guys here is next to none . I bought a 2007 International 4300 new because I was told it was the last year for the DT466 and I have had good luck with them , They tried to sell me on a VT365 and I stuck with the 466 [knock on wood , no issues yet] , I think it is like comparing a Ford 300ci six to a 4.6- 5.4 mod motor . The last diesel shop truck I had was a 95 GMC with a 6.5 Turbo , they had a worse rep IMO than the Ford does and I loved that thing till the day it was totaled. (BTW , is ficmrepair.com hard to get in touch with ?)

FICM Repair.com - Your Source for FICM Repair is who I'd recommend. There is an email link on his site and he answers very promptly.

Thanks to everyone !
I spoke with Ed @ FICMREPAIR.COM today , great guy and a wealth of information . My FICM will be heading to Ed tomorrow . When the truck was cranking and not starting I unpluged the ICP on the right valve cover .....still no start . Beasley Ford will be sending me the ICP and harness Monday , along with a complete set of Motorcraft filters .
I also plan on getting 5W40 Rotella synthetic for the oil change , ( it has a Mr. Tire service reminder sticker in the windshield, who knows what filter and oil they used ( at least miles wise it"s not due yet). I"m gonna hope that the best is yet to come with this thing .
Thanks again ,
Chuck

Just so you know, if that place used a wrong oil filter, it may need a OEM cap to put in the Motorcraft filter. Some filters come with a different cap to make theirs fit right. So don't be surprised if you need to get an OEM cap. Also, some come with an additional piece inside the OEM cap to make theirs fit right. If the Motorcraft filter isn't fitting right, check the inside of the cap.
