My new truck arrived last week. Supercrew, 4X4, Lariat, Lariat plus and chrome package. With 1,350 miles I would like to change the oil and filter. Where the heck are they located? I don't see anything underneath but a big stainless shield. There is a 4" by 4" rectangular plug to access the EPAS in the stainless shield.

 

I found my answer on another forum. Here it is.

Yikes...a little question about how to change the oil and everyone has to give their $.02

For the oil filter go to the driver side front fiber panel there is 4 or 5 white quarter twist fasteners twist them and you will then have access to the filter you will see the black oil slide that ford built for the oil to drain from filter removal.

Now for the pan go to the passenger side right behind the front tire and you will again see quarter turn twist fasteners on the rear fiber panels remove them and you will have access to the drain plug.

The EB has Motorcraft 5W-30 Synthetic Blend as factory fill there is no special break in oil. All EB's will come with the original smaller filter this filter does not need to be changed out before the first oil change.

Ford does not call for any special early first oil change unless you meet one of the "special" driving conditions as shown in your owners manual.

 

Any troubles or issues while changing the oil for the first time? I will be doing mine this week.

 

Not sure if this is true with the EB but with my 5.0, I learned you either need a very large diameter drain pan or two drain pans for the oil filter. This is because the 5.0 drains in 2 spots. There's a cut out in the factory skid plate and a drain channel in front of the front cross member.

Let us know if this is the case with the EB

 

So describe the oil drain plug a bit more if you dont mind. On the passenger side behind the front wheel (under the composite fiber splash guard) i saw what looked like a 15mm on the bottom passenger side of the oil pan. It points towards the passenger door. Is this the oil drain plug?
And if so is there a crush washer? The Ford tech did not sell me one when i bought my filter.

Take down the 3' by 3' fiber splash shield,the drain plug is 15MM and points to the passenger door. No crush washer but don't drop the plug into the funnel like I did. Makes a big mess.
Do NOT have the front wheels on a ramp when you remove the filter. The filter oil does not come down the little drain trough, it spills over the back and another big mess.
The filter is very difficult to access, I drew a little blood and have some arm bruising.
That may be the last time I change the oil myself but its hard to break a 45 year habit.
After all that I could not be happier with the truck.

Good luck. Have bandages available, I bled on my leather seat a bit.

 

A few years (a couple of decades ago), I bought a 20 quart storage container (heavy duty)...it is about 12" tall, about 14" wide and about 24" long, I place a HD 33 gallon trash bag in it (to make cleanup easy) and use it for both engine oil & trans fluid drain...its big enough to handle the transmssion qty and its shor and long enough to catch the oil from both drian ramps on the F150.

Fairly cheap too....$15 IIRR.
