Electric-Blue 1948 F-1 is Packed with a Legendary Flathead V8. But who Cares about Speed when Cruising Around in this Classic?

Early Ford trucks, like this gem we spotted on eBay, seem to elicit certain emotions from folks. You simply look at them and want one. There’s something about the curvy fenders and the charming simplicity they possess that hearkens you back to a very different America.

The ’40s were a time when you didn’t need fancy stuff. No need for a plush interior, or a ton of horsepower in your truck, either. All someone needed was a reliable and tough workhorse, just like a Swiss watch. Something that was more of a work tool than anything else.

This vin1948 F-1 truck, which was recently up for auction on eBay, is a perfect example of why it’s hard to resist the charms of the voluptuous Fords. The irresistible lines look even better with Ford’s electric-blue paint job and shiny chrome. In addition, steel wheels, chrome hub caps and wide white-wall tires are the only rolling stock you need.

The awesome road relic also has the legendary Flathead V8, with a fairly rare floor-mounted 4-speed transmission. These engines are known more for the cool noises they make rather than the horsepower they produce. But who’s gonna care about speed when cruising around in this classic?

During a time when style and reliability were more important than comfort and speed, Ford made trucks that stood above the rest. Even to this day, we can’t help but fall in love with trucks like this ’48.
