1995 E4OD Not shifting

IF THIS POST IS NOT ALLOWED I Will REMOVE IT

recently purchased a 1995 F250 and when I started driving it home I got a CEL about 10 minutes into my trip home and the truck refused to shift on its own , got it home and so far I have
-new cap and rotor for the dizzy
-new plug and plug wires
- new TPS (what a pain)
-checked for vaccume leaks (strategically placed break cleaner to confirm)
-inspected the plug on the side of the trans and didnt see any damage

I know its hard to diagnose through a computer screen but any info may help me get this thing running right
I do not want to have to take it to a transmission shop if avoidable , Again any and all suggestions will be taken under advisement ,
Thank you for your time

I forgot to mention the transmission shifts when you manually select the gear on the column shifter , but will not shift on its own ,

I replaced the spark plugs , plug wires , cap and key on the distributor and a new coil . when I installed the new parts the engine sounded healtier than when i started it , but Im still having the same issue under power the CEL comes on and it will no longer shift down or up . does anyone have a some information as to what all I can look as as well to solve this issue . Thank you for the input and If there is already a thread for this please include a hyperlink .
Thanks agian

as far as transmission codes the code reader did not give me any transmission specific codes , and the check engine light is only on after i try to accelerate from a stop. when i first start driving it it acts fine but as soon as i get to the stop sign at the end of the street and make a turn is when i get the issue to really come up . like i said there is not a CEL when i am not in drive anymore . and unfortunately I am working out of town until Saturday evening before i can try anything else .

I was told the connector and the MLPS sometimes can get water or debris in it and cause these issues ?
would it be better to try and clean it or just replace it anyway ?
