66 F100
The wheel above is more like the Ford alum wheels of the early 90's I agree. I don't remember aluminum slots around that time Pictures??
I did not order wheels yet. I
may look at Crager style and yes they were more period correct. I remember them very well. I bought a set used and sold them in 1972. I will reset my old brain and take another look at the wheel options.
Thank you for your response. Currently the truck has nice new white painted steel wheels and caps and almost new tires. It look ok but just not what I think I want?? The gray spoke ones don't door much for me. I have a 69 red truck near me that could have been in place of this truck. Its still here near buy anyway the owner put the gray spoke wheels on and it just did not trip my trigger? Another red 66 in the area has the rims withe the holes like this and for some reason I liked that look. It was a red truck also. So I am shopping. But you did pull me off the ledge. I had a call in to summit ready to pull the trigger. Will take a look again. The aluminum slots? I started to look there just thought the chrome might look better And thought the alum slots were later styles??
. I understand completely we each have our own preference and desired personal look. Good news these are just bolt on items and can be changed, but they are pricey! Just trying to move from the white wheel, which is not a totally bad thing and accents the inside of the cab. I really should wait till the truck gets here!
Always trying to move to fast!Humm would the steel wheels look good painted same color as the truck?? Who still does photo shop on here??

Chris and Cheryl

I did order a new chrome bumper for the rear of the 66 with bolts and the license plate lights. Summit shipped today. It will be here before or the truck gets here.
One of these details that caught my eye is the bump or hump at the back of the door in the window area. It reminds me of a mini step down on new Ford truck doors. Could it be the early version of that detail?? Again I really don't know much about these "slicks" which I just learned. Got that! Humm? Maybe fun to cram the old noggin with new info!
The title should get here prior to the truck too. So I should be able to get that in motion next week too. I do have the PA vintage plate for the truck. Its cleared by my notary and cleaned up a little. Has the original 66 sticker in the upper left too!
Then insurance for the ride, wait for the state to get their money and paperwork work done, and maybe we can drive it by May?

Still thinking on the wheels. I think I like the chrome vs the aluminum wheel. Maybe chrome reverse and baby moons?? Lots of options for sure!
Anyone going to the "Run to the Sun" in Myrtle Beach? This truck was going to be there. Maybe with a for sale sign in the window?
So many slick questions, so little time!

Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

Thank you for for the positive comments on this 66! I will get some additional pictures when it gets home! Since this was noted to be a repaint with age and use, it will probably have some crust that doesn't show in the owners pictures. I don't plan to repaint this. It would cost as much as the truck from what I have heard. Could I paint it? Well maybe but I would have to build a paint booth. Which would mean I would need to move all my orange tractors out of the mini shop and get that building made into a paint area. Probably not going to happen?
Our big shop has a 2 post lift so we should be able to get a really good look at the underside of the truck too.
That rear bumper swap will probably be the first modification to this 66. Friend John and I will tackle that. My grandson Mike who is a mechanic will give the front end a look for any slop or play. He also will teach me a little about the EFI system too.
Probably mentioned this is really my first hot rod. Still fairly mild, it may be a sassy little slick??
Do you have a thread on your truck? Point me in that direction and I will check it out.Looking forward to seeing your project!

Chris and Cheryl
I don't think I have been called Dazzler since high school, and that was a long time ago.
Haven't started any thread on my '66 specifically, as I joined the forum shortly after I retuned to Germany and well...my truck is pretty far away. I spend most of my time reading, learning, planning, changing my mind, learning more, planning again, and...well you get the idea.
Anyway, I am still gleaning information, and living vicariously through others. I can't wait to get my hands back on my old truck and start applying what I have learned from this site. However, there simply is so much I still don't know about what I have...
But this is your thread, and I look forward to you getting your truck and posting new photo's and beginning the process of unraveling just exactly what you have, sharing what you want to change, modify or improve, but also how your road trips go, and Cheryls reaction, which I pray will be positive.
)Sorry on butchering your name. This is our thread! I am going to drag others kicking and screaming along with me! That is what I do! The 66 is brand new to me. Although I lived through that year I was 14 and very impressionable and wanted wheels of my own so bad!!
Ok on the wheels maybe this low cost option might work? Take the 51 Ford hubcaps off and put new baby moons on the white rims?? Just a thought? The cream on the wheels compliments the interior ....... ?? Is that way too old school? Is that way too cheap? Is that way too easy?? Perfect!

Dassler That has to be tough being away from one of your toys? Post your picture of your truck here!
We will attend our local AACA culb dinner/meeting tonight. We have one car show per year in June and donate some of the proceeds to local needy organizations.
I will probably tell the 30+ folks there that Cheryl has a new ride. Will see how that goes!

The bolts and lights for the license plate arrived today. The new bumper should get here tomorrow.
Way in the weeds here guys! Working on the art work for our headstone. Never did that before! They can hand carve some amazing details. Humm Maybe the 66 will be on there?? Nobody looks at headstones any more!

Chris and Cheryl

VIN is F10AL766178 (so below is a C for trans so it looks to be a auto from factory.) I stand corrected, thought it was a three on the tree.

Seller said there may be some pin holes here near the front.

That is really looking great! Those wheels look very good on there. What are the rim sizes? Looks like back is wider?
I like the looks of those wheels very much. The ones I am not sure I like as much are the black or darker spokes?
Thanks for posting this picture of your truck! The paint looks awesome too. Spotlight is a nice accessory.
This looks so nice ! I can see why you trailer it!
My crusty old 66 should be here next week. We can start to look at details of it close up.
I did get the bumper today. The title should be here tomorrow. The truck will ship Monday morning. Might be here by mid week? This is all new to me so you guys will need to help me get up to speed.

Your truck has all the goodies! I am getting to the point in life I want that too! What is the CC other than my initials!
(ok got it Cruise Control, yes that would be very nice!) Great looking truck! Thanks for the info on the wheels too. Glad you drive it, that would be a shame not to enjoy it. Sounds like lots of events and smiles per mile!52 Merc, I cant find the two tone near Burbank. I did see the maroon one. Thanks for the ideas on the look with painted and caps or chrome and baby moons too. I will try some baby moons if and when it gets here so us guys can set around and have a beer and stare at it. Man there are a lot of these out there from rough at $4000 or less to around $30,000 very nice ones! And lots with this same color or the two tone !
Thanks for all the support guys. I can be the very critical and or that's close enough. I will drag you through the good and the bad. Just a warning!
Tried to do first start on the Comet. It only burped once. I think it is sparky related or lack of, plenty of gas in the 2100 carb. May have flooded it? She can be tough to start on good days even after several times going through and setting carb features to the book.
This 66 as noted has maybe been painted who knows how many times. As it has some rust, I should be able to go get a couple bags of feed or park at the ice cream stand and still be ok.
Below :
Me and friend Tom the blacksmith in my tractor shed. which is a 1/4 scale model of the big shop where the 66 will rest soon hopefully. Yea I have a tractor problem too. Mostly Allis-Chalmers of the 50's. 6 of them and a Ford Jubilee that does most of the chores.

Not great shots but the bumper is here and looks good!
