90 F150 rear axle upgrade... Installing 2000 E350 disk brake D60

I'm going to be installing a superduty van disk brake D60 into my 1990 F150.
As close as I can measure, it's either the same spring width, or 1/4" narrower. That shouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone have info on this swap, or axle? I just want to verify the spring pad width before tearing my daily driver apart one of these weekends.

I have done a good bit of research on swapping out axles. I have the same year F150 as you. Sorry to say I don't have much info on your swap. A lot of guys usually go with years around there vehicle or older than there vehicle. A lot was the same up till the 2000's I believe but I am no expert. I am sure someone will chime in here.

The van chassis is wider and so are the spring perches, and that should be a D70 full float axle not a Dana60 semi. And how are you going to deal with the different wheel bolt patterns?

Van chassis are just under 3.75" wider. IIRC they're 40" measured outside the frame rails so you'll need to move the spring perches ~1.5" (the bushings can easily deal with 1/8" misalignment) per side. Pickups are 36.25" measured outside the frame rails IIRC.

Superduty vans are the old bolt pattern, not the new metric bolt pattern like the superduty trucks.
I have a full float disk brake axle. The diesels and v10 1tons had them.

I'm pretty sure it's a d60, but I'll double check.

No not that mismatch.. you said you're putting this in an F150 so you'll have 5-bolt wheels on the front and 8 bolt on the rear.

Then it's a D70.. which is fine in itself.. maybe a bit overkill for a 1/2 ton but..

I have a 3/4 ton big hub D44 straight axle going in the front... Bolt pattern will match after that's in.

As far as overkill goes, that's the point. It's a tar baby, that will only tow my 67 fastback mustang occasionally. Maybe a small camper. But I want better brakes and to get away from 15" tires, this solves a number of issues I don't like about the truck.

Well I always thought those full floater van axles were D70s, look for a 60 or 70 cast into the housing at location 3 in this pic. In any event I agree on the braking upgrade to rear disks, I never liked drum rear brakes and my new van(06 E250 with rear disks) is the best stopping truck I have ever owned.. especially when road conditions are bad as in the winter.. the truck just stops with no drama and the ABS hardly ever jumps in.
