I was talking to somebody a couple of weeks ago and they said with the bigger injectors and larger exhaust I should get a bigger turbo since it spools up faster. What do ya'll think?
the bigger turbo with the larger injectors are needed to have the right amount of air to burn the higher amount of fuel. and the proper flow to keep the egt's in control
If I rebuilt my turbo would it last for another couple of years?
with stage 1's maybe maybe not. depends on what kind of boost you push thru it on a daily basis. if you run it up to 30 regularly it won't last as long as if you didn't. Turbo's are very difficult to place a life span on.
I have hit 30 a couple of times but usually I don't push it to much past 20. Maybe since I don't push it too hard I can get by with just a rebuild? I plan on getting something newer in 1 or 2 years. Thanks for the advice fellas!
Well I just won a turbo of ebay from Ron's turbo service for $350. I figured this will hold me until I upgrade to a newer truck. He states in the listing that it will hold up to fuel upgrades. Did I do good on this one. I seen in other posts that some of you were giving him good reviews.
that turbo from Ron's is just a glorified stocker. The center sections in these turbo's are junk. They fall apart when un-equal drive pressures occur. Go easy on the stocker and she'll last as long as you need her to. Good luck
Aside from my compressor wheel being dusted my stocker has 250,000 and will see 30+psi everyday. Its lasted like this for some time now. I have an 00+ 7.3 compressor wheel on it now from ron it was only $20
