127,000 miles; changed fluid twice (I know..should have done more)
Put into reverse after driving about 5 miles; seemed to go into gear, 'kinda clunked and wouldn't move backwards. Drove home, checked fluid: low, added, but still no go in reverse. Also seems to shift late going into forward gears.
I'd appreciate opinions on most likely culprit.
Thanks!
had my reverse start to bind up and clunk a bit on me, and when i put it on jack stands it would drive foward when it was in neutral and reverse was pretty much gone on it.....the tranny was bad....check the tranny pan for metal shavings possibly...
That's depressing! I was hoping there might be a typical specific weakness that could be addressed. I suppose that most places will just want to change out the whole transmission.
I think I'll take it back to the dealer I bought it from (new), rather than my local dealer, and hope they have seen this before. I've moved since then, but they used to be pretty good. Maybe I'll be lucky if the same people are still there.
