Hey everyone! New here, and happy to be here. God blessed me with a boy 16 years ago who's a bit of an oddity, he's loved old trucks for as long as I can remember. (He gets it from me). Anyway, the time came to buy him his first vehicle and we settled on a 96 F150 2WD with the 4.9 (unlike his father he doesn't have much of an interest in 4WD). We're in the Mitten and since it's the heart of the rust belt, you can barely find a 2010 without the fender wells rusted out, let alone a 96. But we managed to trek down to Ohio and pick one up that had just been brought up from Alabama a few weeks before.
The Truck sat for years. (It was a sheriff/fire truck). The guy we bought it from picked it up for his nephew, did quite a bit of work to it, and the nephew didn't want it. His loss our gain. The boy loves the truck already, and it makes me nostalgic.
Anyway, the point of the thread. This is going to be a "driving project". A couple days in, the truck throws a P0402 code. I start looking at the vacuum lines, and they literally start shattering like uncooked spaghetti noodles. Today I got all of them replaced except for the "proprietary hose" that goes into the charcoal box, coffee can, whatever you want to call it. They're broken in two different places, I can't manage to pull the hose(s) away from the boot, so I figured a purchase would work best. I can't seem to find a old f150 centric website that specialiizes...anybody have any ideas?
A picture would be perfect.
My truck is a 1994, and has both a coffee can(metal round shape) and a charcoal box ( plastic rectangle shape).
Yeah, take a picture and post here.
Thanks @WWhite. I knew I should post pics, but couldn't last night. Here you go! So, the question is....can I buy this somewhere online? And does anybody know the name of it.
Broken Vac tubes. Panned out for location. They were so brittle, they just snapped like uncooked spaghetti.

Unless you are willing to use bulk vacuum hose and nylon vacuum line, I’d say you are going to have to visit the junkyard(s) for those parts.
Seconded^
I've always had good luck with vacuum parts in the junkyard. Half the time they let me take em for free.
As far as what it is, am I seeing that one of those lines comes out of the thermactor? Not as familiar with OBS vacuum, but I guess it could have a little check valve in there? Sorry I can't help you more. I've been able to ID just about every part of my vacuum via other posts in this forum. Keep digging, you'll find the answer.
