Want to leave truck running without keys in ignition
2015 6.7 king ranch with ez lynk tuner. Winter is coming and I'd like to find a way to leave the engine running without the keys in it. Yes I know it has remote start but it shuts down after 15 minutes. Sometimes I leave the truck running all day. Have been locking the doors with a 2nd key but want something a little nore secure against theft.
and before anyone whines I'm in fairbanks. Was -40 for a while last winter.
The only method I am aware is to buy an aftermarket remote start kit. Most of these aftermarket remote start kits allow you to hold the start button to activate their run circuitry and then remove the key.
Not aware of anyone accomplishing this feature with the Ford remote start kits nor increasing the run time beyond 15 minutes without pressing the buttons on the fob.
I’ve got something for you. I use this. It allows you to idle, no time limit, no key in the ignition. If someone smashes the window and jumps in, the truck shuts off when the transmission is shifted out of park.
It’s pretty hot where I live so I sometimes leave it idling when I’m eating somewhere. Also, if I forget something in my house I can leave the truck running while I run in to get whatever it is and come back to a cool interior.
It’s an easy install, took me about 30 minutes tops.
Understand the reasoning, but I wouldn't recommend idling for long periods unless you have deleted your trucks EGR cooler. I have seen ambulances have clogged cool side EGRs at only 45,000 miles, but with 7,000 hrs idle time.

I hear you on that. I don’t idle for hours, just a couple of minutes. And when I do it’s usually at 1200 rpm with the high idle mod. This is followed by a 20 mile trip back home at highway speeds as I live north of the city on my ranch.
Also, I asked if it would negatively affect the factory remote start. One guy said yes, their “engineer†said no. I took a chance and installed it anyway and it DOES NOT affect it at all. Still works like normal.
