Coolant hose name?

Hello everybody, I've sprung another coolant leak on my 2013 F550 work truck. It's the hose that runs from the left hand radiator tank up to a Y connection. I would say it's a 3/4" hose. Just wondering what to call it? A bypass hose? Does the aftermarket make these? Or is it a Ford only part. Thanks in advance. Also I guess it would be a good time to change the coolant. Can I run Cat ELC like my 6.0? Or do I have to stick with the Ford orange stuff (which looks like dexcool to me and I hate that crap)?

Ford orange stuff is ELC and is similar to DEXcool. Simple answer is you need to run the orange ELC and none of the green or red or other color coolants.

Have you tried to find the hose as if your truck was a F350 on one of the parts sites such as Autozone, Advance or even Tasca Ford or White Bear Lake?

I haven't looked anywhere other that Rock auto and the ones they have don't look right to me. Is there any other coolants that mix with it? I'd rather not get it from the stealership if possible. Thanks again.

The Prestone clear ELC says it mixs with any colour coolant. This is the only thing I can get local that might work. What do you think?

Can you upload a picture of the hose?

Use DEXcool or any of the "orange" coolants labeled ELC, Prestone, Peak, Wal Mart etc.

Motorcraft Orange coolant is not that expensive at the dealership. For what is a once every 3-5 year maintenance item, i wouldnt lose sleep over a couple of bucks at the risk of creating a problem.

Thanks for your help. It's more about availability as the closest dealership is about 45 mins away. But I'll go with the Ford just incase.

Ok I've looked a little deeeper and found the hose runs from what I would call a coolant to air intercooler down to a smaller radiator in front of the main rad. I'll try to post some pictures but they might not be very good as it's pretty tight in there. Thanks

I'm assuming all the same coolant rules apply for the secondary system? I think I can build my own hose with a tee on the end.

Do you not have a Wal Mart close by? Wal Mart has a good selection of the Orange ELC coolant.

Our local parts store is getting me in some Orange ELC and I'm pretty sure I can build the hose out of 1" silicone heater hose and a tee on the end with some 5/8" barbs. Be cheaper and last longer than the original I'm hoping. That silicone hose is good stuff. The only thing I'm worried about now is removing the intercooler to get at the hose.
