While checking my coolant level to see what temperature I was protected to the rubber hose fell into my expansion tank. I know, how the heck does this happen… I’m not sure as I just bought the tester last night on the way home from work. I used a flashlight to see if I could see it and fish it out of the bottom but I was unable to see through the coolant. Unfortunately, I had to drive the 5 miles to work with this truck as my other one needs a new distributor.
Any chances the little hose is still in the expansion tank? I plan on sucking out the reminder of the coolant and hopefully fishing out that hose tonight after work. Worse case, the hose slide down into the “t” below the radiator. I hope not. I wouldn’t think that it would make it any farther than that. The truck never reached operating temperature.
The hose had a pretty good curve in it so I doubt it even made it out of the tank... It's been quite the morning.
LOL I can relate. It's been quite a few months for me. You would have to have some EXTREMELY crap luck for that hose to get sucked out of the tank. Hopefully your luck is better than mine!
I hear the luck thing, went to start my truck this morning, cold, but about 20*. Batteries low, won't turn over long and died. Went to get charger, hooked it up and realized the positive end was about broke off, smoke coming out of it. Took it off and went and got another charger out of the shop. Finally, started and off. Guess its time for batteries..
Got to love those mornings... Luckily, I was able to get the hose out. There was no chance at all that it would have ended up in the line as it was stuck in one of the compartments.
Lesson learned. Inspect the chinese cheap tools that your using before you use it.
