Advice on EGR delete and oil cooler change on 2004 F-550 6.0L
I'm considering replacing the oil cooler and doing the EGR cooler delete. How difficult is it for a hobbist to do this? Can anyone recommend a good source for the kit, preferably with instructions.

Very do-able for a hobbyist. Plan on a full weekend if it's your first time taking the turbo out of a 6.0. Better to go slow and not break things than rush through it. Very first one I ever did took about 16 hours, that includes the coolant flush and time resoldering the VGT pigtail that disintegrated. Second one I did took half the time.

My .02: Buy a hose pick like the Snap on SGA1710BR . It pulls fan shrouds, CAC lines, radiator hoses, moves wiring looms, it's just an all-around "how did I live before it" tool that I keep finding new uses for. The air deflector in front of the alternator that people hate? Comes out in about 30 seconds with this pick.
