EGR Cooler Replacement

Hi Guys

So i bought a F350 6.0 with a bad EGR Cooler. I am planning to replace it but what all should i replace while i am taking the thing apart

I planned on

EGR Cooler
Oil Cooler
Fuel Filter
New Oil and Filter
Coolent

Anything else

Also i am going to get the bulletproof EGR Cooler, does it make sense to get the bulletproof Oil Cooler ($427) as well or should i just get a Dorman from Rock Auto ($131).

Lastly, in reading the forums i see comments that on these diesels you should get good oil... what is a good oil for these 6.0 diesels

Get a Ford OEM cooler from AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake | Parts & Accessories there is a You-Tube showing how much of a piece of junk the Dorman is. I too ordered the BP EGR cooler and the gasket set. While doing my 05 I am doing the STC, Banjo Bolts and Coolant filter, I will give it a good VC9 flush first.

Go OEM on the oil cooler. Dorman has had many failures.

The blue fuel pressure spring would be a good upgrade.

In colder climates lighter oil works better. I run Delo 400 15w-40 with no problems, it rarely drops below 30° in my area though.

I was that far down a few days ago. Check the SCT fitting and replace if it isn't updated. Since the electrical harness was all but removed I did the dummy plugs before beginning the reassembly.

I wouldn't graze over and not do this. At least check and make sure it's updated. With the intake n cooler off,, you are at the hpop. I'm referring to the stc fitting.

If they are all good I'd leave them. You'd probably break the gp connectors and that would mean a new harness.

I was thinking that i would pull the glow plugs anyways to clear the cylinder to reduce the risk of bending a rod after replacing the EGR cooler??? <- is that not needed / a good idea?

More questions - Where to go to get.....

1. Bulletproof EGR Cooler - bulletproofdiesel.com
2. Gasket set - should i get it from bulletproof ($147) or is there a better source?
3. Oil Cooler w/gaskets - Link posted above (Thanks )
4. Oil Filter and Fuel Filter - Also posted above (http://www.dieselfiltersonline.com//...truck_filters/)
5. Oil - Delo 400 15w-40 - Autozone?? <- Any better source
6. Coolant - Green stuff that you mix at Autozone or something better??
7. Fuel Additive <- Not sure which one? <- Autozone???
8. Coolant Additive <- VC9 - Amazon? and is this something that you add with the coolant and let it run, how does it work?
9. SCT fitting - The truck is a 2007 will it have a old fitting, when did they do the update - Source Ford parts site that i get the oil cooler from?

Thanks Again to everyone

Uh oh. Time for you to read some more....

First, never use green coolant in your 6.0. Either Ford Gold or CAT EC-1 ELC. No additives necessary.

From what I'm told, no F series received the updated STC fitting from the factory.

What gaskets are you replacing?

Is your motor hydrolocked?

Gaskets that are removed as part of the EGR cooler replacement, Intake gasket, EGR cooler gaskets/orings, turbo exhaust gasket... etc

Dont think so, i am having trouble starting but i am 95% sure it is a bad/low battery but if the battery is good (haven't tested battery yet) it is possible.
