What rear diff gearing do I have?

Gents,

I bought my 2012 used, and the VIN decoder says I have a 3.73 differential; the original window sticker from the dealership (I purchased from the same dealership that originally sold it) says 3.55...is there another way to confirm? TIA.

Interesting...that site says 3.55, but the VIN decoder on FTE says 3.73. I reckon the site you linked is correct since it jives with the sticker. Thanks!

Jack the *** end up and rotate the tires and count the revs, wheel per drive shaft. Can't go wrong there.

I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ***, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

If you have a DIESEL SRW, I did't think you could have gotten a 3.73? I know on my 2011 I wanted on and the only way with a diesel was a DRW/dually. Gassers I think had that option though.

IDK. The site I was using allowed me to select 3.73 as a gearing option with the 6.7L...whether it's available IRL (in real life) is another thing.

The motor you have is a gas motor. 6.2L not diesel in that list with 3.73. As soon as you selected diesel it dropped to 3.31....

Also the question was on a 2012, not a 2016 anyways...

I would have liked a 3.73 in 2011 and I know for a fact you couldn't get that ratio in that year. I special ordered my truck and tried to get it and couldn't.

I agree with the above. If you have a 6.7L Diesel and a SRW drive truck, you have either the 3.55 or the 3.31 axle
If you have the 20" factory wheels. Then you probably have the 3.55

It really is a shame. 3.73 gears should still have been an option.

You also get 3:55 gears with the camper PKG which mine has (2015). I agree with those who say 3:73 is not an option with SRW diesel. I haven't looked at mine, but there should also be an axle code on the door sticker. Take that and go to the owners manual and it should tell you.

Thanks for the feedback guys...I didn't notice the first time around that they had both engines listed in the options. Mine does have the camper package, so I guess I can trust the 3.55 listed on the window sticker.
