I am having a heck of a time removing the harmonic balancer bolt on my 360fe. I can't get enough torque without turning the engine over. It's an automatic so I can't put it in gear.Any suggestions.
Remove the coil wire. Put a breaker bar with a deep socket on the bolt and turn the motor clockwise until the handle of the breaker bar is on top of the left frame rail. Go inside and tap the motor over.

2X On the scary way if that's your only option.
We did my son 4wd toy that way. Best to use an impact socket tho..

That's a scary way but effective. That's one of the worst case scenario's. Might want to let the bolt and harmonic balancer soak awhile in some rust penetrant PB blaster. Mine have been very rusty before and took some work to break free.
If you don't care about the engine then drop a 3/8 extension down a spark plug hole on a upstroke, 1 inch from the top of the stroke. Or fill it with oil half way up the compression stroke and reinstall the plug. That is what works at a wrecking yard.
I am thinking you need an impact hammer. You might try renting an electric one if you don't have a compressor.

I have used this method on many vehicles and it has never failed or damaged anything.
