AE won't connect

I set up the Ae with my vehicle(99 ford powerstroke 7.3). It won't connect to the truck with the key on. Didn't try it with it running. All i can read when it does connect(only twice)is mph, rpm, and intake man absolute psi. When it's running and i put in the vin # the truck dies. Read through the instr, tried changing things to no luck. Did I miss something?

I too have been learning my new AE.. check your fuses ..I assume you have ford enhanced and make sure it is displayed, make sure you have the ford setup.
don't use the get VIN..it will shut you down..if you leave the ignition on too long it will dump fuel in combustion chamber too...so crank your truck up and warm it up a little.
my truck was produced 11/98..google AE there are a lot of reading...we are on the same level..plus I am working on my Nissan Titan
If no luck call Autoenginuity direct and talk to a tech..they were a big help to me
good luck..have your serial # on your connector..they will ask for it

Sounds like you did not activate the Ford Enhanced option.

Take a look at these instructions from Riffraff Diesel on how to set-up AE.

http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/RE...%20Install.pdf

Once you get it up and running, Feel free to use my Autoenginuity page to help with specific tests.

I did all that Ken,and your page is saved on my pc already. Shows activated, and if it does connect I only get the three options to read.

If you are only getting three options you are in the basic OBD II and not the enhanced package.

Did you set up the communications configuration with the J1850PWM And OBD II.

Here is another post where similar issues were had. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...questions.html

I tried both ways. I haven't seen the green light come on the obdII connector. Just the red n yellow. I will check the fuses, but both my 12v services work. ?? I will keep trying things.

Do you have PowerStroke 7.3L and Enhanced Powertrain selected?

Yup,looked exactly like that. It can't find the obdII port. But it has connected twice allowing me to read rpm, mph, and map. Do I need to pull the chip?

I have never had AE not connect with the DP Tuner installed.

Check pin 16 on the OBDII port for 12 volts. If there's no voltage check the fuse for the cig lighter, #3 20A under dash.
