I run the SGII all the time in both my trucks to monitor the important stuff... But, my new truck just donated to our lodge is showing three DTCs that the SGII can't read, so I picked up the AE with the Ford bundle... Any tips for using it? I mean, I'm sure it's pretty self explanatory, and I'm very good with technology, so I know I'll be able to figure it out easily, but any tricks or little known things you can do with it that I should know about?
The rest you will just need to pay attention to diagnosis of other threads. Save web links that deal with truck issues. When a Ford Tech of another member gives diagnosis advise, save the data.
I have a 3" thick binder filled with pages of info that I printer out and keep in my truck. Some places I travel to dont get Internet service or cell service.
The best suggestion I can give is set your scanner for custom configureation, monitor only the pids you need to see related to the situation your working on.
The A&E and most other scanners by default read all pids, a little over 3 thousand most are useless for diagnostics and the data you do need is scattered amoungst the junk. By checking off only what you want to watch you group your info closer together and make for a quicker easier read.
Cool, thanks... I plugged it up to my personal F-250 yesterday and came back with no DTCs, which made me happy... then went over to the live view monitor screen to see what PIDs I could monitor, and it only had like six listed. Silly stuff like RPM, Load, ECT, etc... where do I find the rest of them??? I do have the Ford bundle, and it has been activated...
You have to register it online but ya also have to register it and activate it in the scanner interface tool itself. Also on my scan software I had to install the tool software first and then click on the enhanced bundle file and install it.
By the way you want to go online and install any updates available.
Ah, didn't know about the online registration... nothing in their directions said anything about that. But I did install the software first, then activate the Ford bundle, just as the little blue card said to do. I'm having trouble finding an online activation. Do you remember where it is?
Here's a little video I made awhile back to help with AE start up. Some people use "Auto-detect" some need to use the "USB". You need to set up one of those and also set to "CAN" and "OBDII Compiant".

Ha Ha, thought I was the only one who did that .
Came in handy once already plus lots easier to navigate even when there is service.
