I have a 78 F-150 w/ a 302 c4 2wd reg. cab..and I am thinking about putting a set of headers on it, what do you guys recommend, long tube, shorties...brands?
I've have read in different articles that a longer tube header can give more torque, but I don't think you can go wrong with either since headers are better than having a stock manifold. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Hedman and Hooker make a pretty good header. More expensive, but if you can afford a ceramic header, the better. Hopefully others will chime in here. I have L&Ls and they are really good, but only because they were the only company that makes a 460 swap for my particular application.
i ran flowtech 12500's i just sold a set with 1500miles on them for 75 bucks they are only bout 125 or so new. they work the paint burns off fast but i am always on a budget.
I'm running Hedman headers on my 76 F250 and they've been on for 5 years no trouble . If you get cheap ones they will crack and rust out faster as there made from thinner steel.
I am running hedman long tubes on mine and they work just fine. Custom dual exhaust all the way back only cost me $150.00 at the local exhaust shop. I already had the flowmaster headers.
