Did ford ever put three on the tree in a four wheel drive F100? I've only seen it in 2wd trucks, anyone know for sure?

Wow, I never knew they only had a single speed t-case, combined with three on the tree that could leave the truck painfully high geared for a 4x4.

Thanks Bill, I was not aware they had column shift in the f250s, must not have been very common.

Smile Any way you wanted it

Back in the day ford would put any motor and any trans. and any gear you wanted..Thats why when you are looking for barnfinds..You have to check stuff out carfully..That old wagon could have a 330 or a 427..No telling..You can tell by casting numbers sometimes..But you really dont know for shure till you tear it down...bill

I have a question for this one as I have never seen a 4wd pick up with a 3 on the column. I know the 66-77 bronco had a 3 on the column, but they had a 2 speed transfer case. all 67-72 F-100 4wd's I have seen had a four speed with a single speed transfer case. I was told the thinking behind the one speed transfer case was if the trans. had the granny gear You wouldn't need the low range in the transfer case.

My question is, did the 3 on the column 4wd 67-72 F-100 have a 2 speed transfer case?
