Hi,
Just joined last week. I have '04 F250 with 6.0L. I have a new cover for HFCM & a wiring harness that is suppose to go with it. If I pull the fuel line from the tank first from the cover do you have to plug it up with something or does it only drain for a bit.
Is there any kind of little fuel pump in the tank that pumps to HFCM or is the pump in HFCM the only one to pull fuel to HFCM pump?
I am replacing the cover because I beleive the Water in Fuel sensor never worked. The light comes on with all other lights at startup but never came on when I seemed to get a bad water in the fuel problem. Also the water drain stripped out & I bought the new improved drain plug that sticks out from cover. Thanks in advance.
There is no pump in the tank, only the HFCM, so no worries there. Whether or not it gravity drains might depend on how full the tank is. If you run it down to 1/8 tank or so, I don't think it would siphon on you. This won't be much different that when you change fuel filters. You get some drain back, but it's not too bad.
Thank you. I just remembered that my drive way slants a good bit downhill. I can park the truck uphhill along with the low fuel level. After I get the hose off there is probably an object that I can push in the fuel line to help out if need be. I'll take a 5/16" & 3/8" bolt a cut off at the threads. Then clean it up & grind slight taper. I bet one will do the job if need be. Take care
