Eng. Mount help

I need some help and maybe some pictures on which eng. mounts to use. I am putting a 351W with an AOD trans. I have the stock steering. I did at one time see where someone had a picture and it showed where the headers would be just between the mount and the gear box.

I am planning the exact same setup. I have seen people using the mount from CPP.

The CPP crossmember seems to work the best in conjunction with Patriot brand block hugger or streetrod headers. It uses '68 Mustang 302 motor mounts. Summit Racing and Speedway motors both sell Patriots as their "house brand". Here's a link to the post with pictures that you were probably thinking of.

I'm designing and fabricating my own brackets for the 351w transplant into the 49 f1. I've researched and looked at the after market ones available for this application and wasn't happy with most of them. I'm trying to avoid the crossmember under the oilpan.

Tinman fabrication builds quality mounts from what I hear and read.

The 289/351W for F-series Trucks are widely available at places like JC Whitney, LMC, etc.

There are quite a few threads about these - maybe you might want to use the advanced search and type in "351W motor [or engine] mounts" in quotes.

With the smaller block you should have enough room for Sanderson block hugger headers.

That space between the mounts and stock steering box is really tight.

I have a big block 390 FE and kept the stock steering box and had to go over the frame with custom made headers - $1700! But, I also have an large under engine motor mount system that was also custom made and takes up alot more room than your 351W mounts will.

I'm installing a 302/AOD in my 49 F-1 but with a Volare suspension. Here's my homemade mounts. Perhaps this will give you some ideas. I used 79 T-Bird motor mounts and the engine is offset two inches to the passenger side for steering box and oil filter clearance...
