Hi everyone hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday can any tell me where are ALL the ground wires mounted for a 2002 explorer 4.0 eng code "E" eddie bower i am having some electrical issues and i think the grounds are just dirty and corroded and will clean them up and remount them that's if i can find them all lol any help would be great and thanks in addvance
With the way the service manual is laid out, that would be quite a bit of work. There are a lot of ground locations, even just under the hood.
I'd suggest you check out this site. Select "Wiring Diagrams," enter your vehicle details, Choose something like "Electrical Distribution" followed by "Ground Distribution," "Search," and peruse the resulting list of diagrams.
While this might not give you the exact locations, it shows you which systems are on which grounds and the wire color of those grounds so you can locate one of the items of interest, then follow the ground wire to where it's terminated on the chassis.
Thanks Rod i did a search on ground locations but came up with nothing but i will try the other ones thanks again and i am up for the long haul on this even if i have to find and clean ALL the grounds lol thank again
Out of curiosity, what issues are you having with your Explorer? Maybe some of them will be relatively common and someone on the forum will have advice on things to check first.
the 4 wheel high light flashing 10 times the heater not going from defrost to the floor low oil pressure flashing in the message center just to name a few
Does the oil pressure gauge indicate low pressure as well? These vehicles actually use a oil pressure switch rather than a sensor so if the switch fails (not uncommon) you get a reading of no oil pressure.
Defrost is the fail safe position for the climate control and is usually due to a broken plastic vacuum line between the engine compartment and the the climate control head.
A flashing 4WD light is another pretty common issue and there are a few threads on that topic.
No the oil pressure gauge doesn't dip or go's down just the message center flashes once in a while low oil pressure and some times the buttons on the steering wheel they don't work things like that
