Any of you hearing a rattle near the rear driver's side door while driving? I hear it from time to time but tonight I had 2 passengers back there and the rattle got very pronounced. When I dropped the passengers off, the rattle disappeared. I tried to figure out where it was coming from but no luck. And no it wasn't the passengers making the rattle on purpose
Tacswa3, I have not had any noise yet. It must be from the seat or the door I would think. Did you try put weight on the seat to see if the rattle comes back? I can not think of anything else back there, hopefully someone will have had the same problem and can help you find it.
Just a thought: when\if you hear the rattle again, stop & check to make sure the back door is latched properly @ the top and bottom (tug on the door near the latches and see if it moves). If the 2011 Super cab rear door(s) latch the same way as the older Super Duty Fords, you may find that the rear door is not latched completely causing the rattle.
I've had passengers a few times and no rattles.
I do have an occasional rattle but it's either the wrench or tape measure I keep in the door pocket. I'll remove those and see if I hear any rattling.
It will be awhile before I test it.
Traveling this week...without my truck...in a rental...probably an Impala...lol.
Maybe the door seal mod would help? It would at least hold the door tighter than the factory seals.
Yea I plan on doing that. At first I thought it was the seat belt rattling against the door. I checked the jack, the sub woofer box but that is all that is back there. Just thought it was awful weird it does it when I had the passengers in there. Everybody heard it and was trying to figure out what it was. It was almost constant with hitting even the slightest bump. Maybe it outside the truck underneath??
Just a suggestion , i don't know if you have the sliding rear window on your truck.I know on mine there was 2 plastic pieces in the guides that came loose , it would rattle like crazy driving down a bumpy road driving me nuts.
Being i have the reg cab i could just reach back and open the window and it would stop, close it and it would start to rattle again. That's how i found the noise.
My 08 does this pretty bad so I wrapped the bottom striker with electrical tape and its 90% better.
I did the door seal mod and while it makes the seal more snug it didn't help much with the rattle.
My 08 did this since new FYI.
I did the e-tape trick on the '01 but it had over 100K before it rattled.. Maybe your '08 wasn't quite put together right if it rattled from the get - go...

I wouldnt doubt that...
My educated guess would be the assumption of smoothe roads around your part.
I live on the MA/NH border and the roads are horrendous. The truck groans on some of the frame benders around here.
All of my Super Cabs(99,02(totaled it),02,05) have rattled but not to the extent my 08 has.

I am hoping a new Crew Cab will be better.
I get your roads... I live on ranch and I can say I wish I had smooth roads.. But seriously i felt that my '01 was pretty tight for the first 2-3 yrs.. Maybe I got a good one - that was the first supercab I had had..
