Any Common 6.2L problems?
Well, the 6.2 has been out for a couple of months (along with the 6.7 diesel) and seems to be a great engine that performs very well for those of us who have them.
I would like to see if there are any techs that have seen problems with the 6.2, both widespread and isolated. Is there any feedback from those who have had to work on a 6.2 or service one?
Is there any feedback from any 6.2 owners that are techs or very mechanically inclined who service their own truck? Any noteworthy observations?
This engine seems to be gaining popularity in the Super Duty world since it has replaced the V10 for standard pickup models.
I have received many pm's on this forum and other diesel/ford truck forums from members who are watching the 6.2 very closely, and are considering switching to this engine from a diesel because of the complexity of the new diesels, costs involved with maintenance, and the nature of their use.

I believe that shattered lifter was an isolated incident.
I havent heard of any problems yet either.
I guess there arent any widespread problems at this time with the lack of responses to this post, which is a good thing of course.

I've got about 7000kms on a 6.2, and figure 6500 of those KMs is with a trailer of some sort hooked up.
I went from a 6.0 diesel to the 6.2 and don't miss the diesel at all. Good strong engine; transmission seems ok, although it seems to rev higher than I'd prefer under load.
Probably the most concerning thing to me so far is the oil life monitoring system. Given the fact that I'm towing all the time, I keep thinking I'm due for an oil change...the truck thinks the oil is down to 69% now... that means 20,000 km (13,000 miles) between oil changes on an engine that is always towing... sure hope it knows what its doing...

I would change the oil.. While Ford has been making a big deal over the Intellegent Oil Monitor or whatever.. The Specs say that that is on the 6.7 & the 6.2 is a "Oil Minder" which leads me to beleive that it is a milage based system that wouldn't know of your usage..
I changed mine at 5K (& still was uncomfortable with that) & wished I would have had the oil analyzed...
Otherwise - On common problems - I hope this is the deadest - least active thread ever on FTE...

We will see this winter. The 6.2's here have yet to run a full Saskatchewan winter. Starting an engine when its -45 is very hard on moving parts. I would think that Ford has done its cold weather testing in Thompson.
If its gonna break or the trans is going to push some seals out the cold weather will let you know.

Plug it in, why put your motor through that if you can plug it in ?
