Hey guys today I felt like getting a few questions posted see if anyone out there can help me out. I have to get my 77 f250 inspected and Im not sure my reverse lights are working, in fact Im pretty sure theyre not however I don't know if its just the wiring. Does anyone know where there is a switch that turns the backup lights on I need to know where to start looking if its not the wires. thanks I'll post the other ?s on different threads. my transmission is the C6 colum shift.
one thing I forgot to add from the above ? is my neutral safety switch is just hanging under the dash and I cant figure out where to attach it I think its missing a bracket
The neutral start switch is also your back-up light switch.
The switch is attached to the top of the steering column just in front of the firewall. It is held on by two very short screws.
There is an actuator that sticks out of the column that activates the switch. It clips to the shifter tube and its VERY, VERY common for the actuator to break off. New ones are still available, they just clip on the shifter tube.
Here is the illustration for the steering column from the Ford parts catalog. Scroll down to the bottom, to the right of the illustration look at basic p/n 7A247, this is the neutral start switch and p/n 7B097, this is the actuator.
