Ok I thought I had this problem fixed. But.
When I get in the truck the first time to start it, it starts just fine. I run the truck and motor gets up to running temp, I shut it off, run in the store to get something, come out and start the truck and the starter drags like the battery is dead. I leave the truck for a while and let it cool off for a couple of hours, it starts again.
Last year I put a new starter, new cables all around, new celinoid, and battery. It has a new altenator and voltage reg too.
Here is how it is wired.
Cable from the neg side of battery goes to ground wire that fixes to the firewall and goes to a screw on the end of the starter where it fixes to the block.
On the front of the starter there is a neg wire that connects there and runs to the celinoid on the opposit side of the red wire for the hot.
Is this right? It works until the motor gets hot.
Are you running Headers? I am on 351w and they run right next to my starter. I actually have to wiggle it out, they run so close. I think the extra heat from my headers cuts down on my starter life.

The thick negative cable generally runs from the battery to the engine block;
some trucks are set up where the same cable also connects to the frame.

This is actually the positive cable that supplies power to the starter, it is
energized via the solenoid.
Have you checked the engine's ignition timing? Too much advance can cause this
problem.
Thahnks guys I put on another ground to the frame to see ilf this helps. I will need to have someone wilth a timing light to check the timing I don't have one.

I did look for that issue and everything looks far enough away from the heated sorces. I have the 4.9 engine
Thus the negative battery cable should goto the motor block, except in the case of the six cylinder, it should go from negative battery to chassis to starter bolt, the six cylinder uses a special negative battery cable that has a chassis lug in about the middle of the cable.
And a ground strap from Motor to Chassis, Motor to Cab, Cab to Chassis, Chassis to Bed.
Ground, ground ground..... hopefully I stressed this enough.
In all my years 90% of all ford starting problems are a ground that is not clean. Scrub, scrape, steel wool, whatever it takes and make a solid metal to metal contact.
I have know a few guys who installed a heat shield between their starter and the bottom of the block/exhaust and it helped them.
Worst case... your starter needs to be rebuilt Bro.
