You need to drop the entire tranny to do this job correct?

I got hosed by the local dealer but I was stuck out of town. I think it cost me about $400 total.

That's not a bad price. There is A LOT of labor to drop one of these transmissions and replace it.

Ok, the questions continue. The tranny leeaks seems to have stopped. I was under the truck yesterday for several hours, lubing, cleaning, etc. I noticed that I still have drips under the truck, but it is a oily type of fluid. Still coming from the inspection cover vent, I pulled the inspection cover off and it was dry i nside, no fluid, so I looked at the oil pan between the engine and transmission and noticed it was oily. I am thinking that this flluid is motor oil and since I just changed my oil two weeks ago and have driven it very few miles, the oil is still pretty clean. I thought it could be diesel fuel, but it has no odor to it at all. Thoughts? I retorqued all my oil pan bolts, man, are they a pain in the rear to get too! Let me know your thoughts. THANKS!!!
