The best place for a gauge is in one of the plugs in the oil rail in the head. Pressure will depend on if its at idle or WOT... I can't recall what pressure at idle is in 49 state trucks but I believe around 500 psi.
I'm just north of you a bit and I have AutoEnginuity if you need to get it hooked up to check some things out.
If you want to test the actual pump you need to hook the gauge at the pump itself and block off the other ports. Crank, and it should reach 3800 psi or so and the oil will bleed through the pump's internal bleed off.
If you want to test the pump and put the gauge on the head you'll get a flase reading if there's an issue because the problem might be in one of the heads.
i am curious if i dont' have a bad pump truck ran great for about 60 miles then check engine light.. don't have codes at this time but truck will not restart after shutting down.. used some carb cleaner to start with a quick squirt in the intake.. runs after started with idle up and down about 200 rpms but will stay running until shut off again any help would be great .. i changed some stuff after this happened before but none should effect this
