would you by this engine?
There is a 96 with approx. 100000 miles on it, complete, that has been sitting for 2+ years. The guy bought it from an auto salvage yard as a running motor and never got around to using it he wants $600 for it. What would you check/look for if it were you?

its hard to tell with it not being in a truck. but the injectors are worth about $250-300 in core. not to mention whatever else is good on it

Use a pribar on the flywheel and see if it will turn over.

here is what it looks like. The rust on the pulleys make me a little nervous. I heard its really hard to turn it?

pullies rust pretty fast, so i wouldnt worrie about that. it looks complete except for the watter neck. go look at it.

I'd also pull the intake and check the turbo shaft for play.

That looked like a clean engine. As long as it turns over with a bar I would buy it. 7.3 core charges are usually $500. Looks like a good deal!

I went to look at a motor and the guy was hooking up jumper cables with the motor on the ground to show me the compression test. I had to bit my tongue
