engine temp
i was told the reason why some people run without a thermostat in the engine is that it makes the engine run rich and gives them more power. in the winter they cover up the grille with cardboard or something so they can get heat. does this give more power? i would think it would kill you mpg and the cat would get too hot.

Don't do it, It will kill MPG's ... single digits. You will lose power because of too much fuel. The cat will also get plugged up after a short time also killing power. The computer will just be completely confused as it uses engine temp to determine Timing? and fuel.

Don't do it.........you need a 192 degree thermostat for the EEC to be able to properly manage engine functions.......below that temp, your computer is on open loop, and MPG and performance will suck.
