I believe LV preceded SP and was re-introduced after Ford mysteriously decided to discontinue SP. I'd love to know why that happened.

I have a bottle of Sp and it states "Do not use for applications where MERCON* LV, Mercon*V or Ford Type F fluids are recommended." So it does not say that it can or can not be mixed with LV but states that it can not be used in the 6 speed transmission.

That's what I remember. MERCON LV wasn't there when I left Ford in 2007.
