Jacks 65 Build
Here is the story of Jacks 65. The truck is a 1965 F-100. It is called Jacks 65 because it was my Grandfathers truck, and my Grandfathers nickname was Jack. My Grandfather retired from Boeing back in the mid 90's. Grandpa drove the truck as his daily driver for well over 15 years. My Uncle also drove the truck as his daily driver for another 10 years or so, to the same place Grandpa drove it, Boeing. I finally aquired the truck from my Uncle in the summer of 2007, and finally got started on it about a year later. I am not the most knowledgable about these trucks, but I very much enjoy having one, even though I have only driven it a couple times. I can hold my own in the garage though, just need more knowledge on Ford Trucks before I start throwing in my 2 cents here and there. Here are some pics of the progress from beginning to where I am currently on the project.

Looks like you have a good base to start with. Nice to preserve your grand father's truck. Hope you don't mind me asking...Is he still around to see what you're doing? If so, great to share it with him. If not, I'm sure that you feel him around while working on it.
My dad is 80 and had a 65. I am restoring a 66 and he gets a kick out of seeing the progress. Good to see the little guy involved as well. Bet I know who's getting the truck next!

Thanks for all the great responses! Unfortunately Grandpa passed away about a year and a half ago. He knew I was restoring it before he passed, but I really have just recently made a lot of progress (last year or so). Him passing really motivated me to get it done, and enjoy it! My son loves coming out to help, but he is only 3 so he really just wants to play with the tools, and water hose, but its all good, it gets him involved. The wife and I have a 2nd baby boy on the way, so I will need another slick or 2 soon!

OKC...
It is a product from Eastwood. Rust Converter...then primed with Rust Encapsulator, and then top coated with their Chassis paint. I think it worked out great. We will see how well it really stands up once I get it on the road again. It was a Kansas truck so there was definitely a lot of rust for it to convert!
Bob...
Thanks for the compliments!

I will definitely keep the pics coming...hopefully I get some more progress, and can add post some soon!

Jacks65,
I think that the encapsulator will last. I used it too, without the rust converter. I wire wheeled the frame and used the encapsulator , then the chasis black. I haven't gotten it back on the road yet either. The reason I say it will last is because I used it on some iron patio furniture two years ago and no rust has surfaced.
I've used the encapsulator on all of my under carriage. Check out my gallery if you're interested.
