Hey guys so I checked for boost leaks and fixed the ones I could hear and or see, it helped a bit. ( 7lbs WOT to maybe 12-15 WOT) I am looking at either just rebuilding my existing turbo or buying a slightly upgraded turbo already done.... I am wondering if a .84 housing is a bad thing for our trucks... I was planning on doing a stage one and 17* HPOP with in a month or two but I am getting laid off work come Jan so that will have to wait.. I am still thinking about putting the new 17* HPOP in and running a smaller housing to get some boost at lower RPM since my current turbo doesn't spool until nearly 2500 RPM and that just won't do...
Yea I figured that but with a lack of boost that should raise my EGT's as well and as it is WOT I am hitting around 1100* and at 55-60 I am running around 5-600* so I am hoping that the gain in boost may offset the smaller housing by a little bit...
The SD's run a 0.84 wastegated housing... if you find an early 99 it should bolt up to your turbo. Trouble is you'll have no way of controlling the stock WG so you'd probably want something like a Turbomaster wastegate controller. It can't hurt to try it, worse comes to worse you don't like it and switch back.
hey as for the turbo the dominater 66 beans has, you cant beat it!! i love myn, and i only have 130 cc from a sd, you can tell a big change, 1100 bucks on the turbo, and i have 2 cores if you need them?? love the paint on your truck!! myn is a 96 black short bed, gotta figuer out how 2 gets some pic of the old girl on here
