I have a 88 f-150 with a 302 that i just recently rebuilt. I put the biggest comp roller cam in it that i could without messing up the computer(speed density), comp roller rockers, had some head work done to it, headman headers, bored 30 over, and other small things. I am really happy the way it turned out. I am very proud also becuase it is my first engine that i have ever built since I am sixteen when I built it(now seventeen). I did not kow what to expect but it has plenty of power for me! Enough to get plenty of dumb tickets.

What is the biggest cam i can go without messing anything up with the computer? Maybe a stupid question but this will actually be my first rebuild as well, this site has been a great source for me thus far!
It's not a stupid question at all. I am not sure what cam will work for YOUR truck since there is a year difference and all but I can look on the little card that came with the cam. I just talked to some guys in town that build mustangs and thay helped me. The cam in my truck is a Crane not Comp. I got some of the parts brand names mixed up Anyways, it is part # 364211. The actual name is Hydraulic Roller Special(formerly Compucam 2020). On the card it says it is for a 1986-89 Ford V-8 302. So I doubt it will work for the year you have unless it fits those years. I have a whole bunch of other specs on the cam if you want to know more just let me know. Hope this is helpful. If you have any questioins about a cam for your truck I'm sure you could call Crane and talk to a technician.
